Bogolan Mudcloth Pillows
Bogolan mudcloth pillows are handmade using wonderful African mud cloth fabrics called Bogolan (or Bogolanfini) typical of some populations of West Africa, especially Mali.
The word Bogolan means “made of mud” and in fact the decorations on the fabric are obtained using fermented mud, through a complex procedure dating back to the 12th century. The fabric is 100% cotton, first spun by hand and then woven by hand, usually by men on narrow looms, and finally decorated by women.
Outstanding examples of African art.
