Beautiful African wooden stool hand carved by the Dogon population of Mali, made from a single piece of wood. Fine dark brown patina.

Curious Note : For the Dogonstools are very important symbols of authority. They are the material embodiment of a king’s “seat” of authority and are used as thrones on state occasions. They are also used in various ritual ceremonies. Royal stools are believed to contain special powers and are treated with reverence.
